Well, my upgrade to edgy wasn't that soft as I expected. The first install was really broken, and I had to replay a backup of /. This was partly my fault, I didn't notice that my kernel has oopsed (I have a strange usb hard drive), with the result that discover and mdadm got locked (as in state D).

The 2nd try was a bit better, I'm now writing from an edgy system. Usplash doesn't work for me yet (comments for how to debug this are welcome), and the boot procedure is still rather long.

I filed a couple of bugs:
